Rosalind Talbert Coker, 92, of Memphis died on June 22, 2006 in Loveland, CO, where she had been living since March, 2006. She was born in Lauderdale County, MS and lived in Memphis for over 60 years. She received a BA and MA degree from Memphis State University. She began teaching in the Memphis School System in 1955. She retired in 1976 from teaching American History at Kingsbury High School in Memphis. Mrs. Coker was an active member of Union Avenue Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School classes and was involved in many other organizations at the church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, R.L. Coker, her parents Hugh and Annie White Talbert, brothers Carl, R.L., and Hugh Lavenne Talbert, sisters Nonie Pippin, Irene Coker, and Marie Roberson. She is survived by her daughter Eleanor Belew and her husband, Tom, of Loveland, CO, her son Robert Coker and his wife, Susan, of Cedar Rapids, IA; granddaughters Leanne Boyd (Mark) of Fort Wayne, IN, Leslie White (Tim) of Thornton, CO, grandson, Neil Coker of St. Louis, MO, and great granddaughter, Chandler Sowden of Fort Wayne, IN; two great-grandsons, Tommy and Andy White of Thornton, CO. She is also survived by a sister Doris Aderholt and her husband, Dessel of Franklin, TN, a sister-in-law, Doris French of Meridian, MS, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 28 at 2 p.m. followed by the service at 3 p.m at Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial at Memorial Park Cemetery.
