Ardelle Livesay Sink, who was born July 13, 1918 in Millington, Tennessee, passed away on August 10, 2006 in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she was a resident at Merrywood Retirement Home. Mrs. Sink was the daughter of Lillian and Leroy Livesay of Bolton, Tennessee. She was a graduate of Bolton High School and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Rhodes College in Memphis. She also received a Master's Degree from Memphis State University.
Mrs. Sink was a teacher and librarian with the Memphis City Schools for many years, and also worked with the Memphis Public Library System. As a member of Springdale Methodist Church, she taught many Sunday School classes, was a member of the choir, and a member of many committees.
Mrs. Sink is the widow of Curry Atherton Sink of Memphis. She leaves her brother, William L. Livesay of Hemet, California; two daughters, Ms. Claire Williams of Charlotte, NC and Mrs. Mary Lillian Cochran of Greensboro, NC; son-in-law, Robert Cochran of Greensboro, NC; as well as three granddaughters, Holly Ruch of Greensboro, NC, Brooke Cochran of Greensboro, NC, and Heather Williams of Charlotte, NC. She also leaves three great-grandchildren, Jack, Claire and Grant of Greensboro, NC.
A graveside service will be held in Memphis Memorial Cemetery on Monday afternoon at 2:00 p.m., August 14.
Harry and Bryant Company is serving the family of Mrs. Sink.
